Job SummaryCreate a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Responsibilities- Teach content and skills in subject area to elementary pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the state of Oklahoma Academic Standard and developed by the vertical team and the school board.
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and in administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Instruct students in time management and foster study skills.
- Adapt subject material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
- Select and requisition books and instructional materials appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students; maintain required inventory records.
- Adapt the curriculum to provide individual, small-group, or remedial instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
- Develop standards for critical analysis through group discussion based on a variety of mass media pertaining to area of study.
- Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas through writing, speaking and problem solving activities.
- Evaluate each student's progress in subject area.
- Establish and maintain standard of students' behavior needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment.
- Identify student's needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, social and learning problems.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
- Supervise students in out of classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Work with students, other classroom teachers and administrators to encourage participation and support of the arts, school spirit, leadership and athletic events.
- Administer or monitor group tests.
- Assists with special projects.
- All other duties as assigned by the administrator.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws applicable to education and special education; ability to follow all district policies and procedures; ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm; strong communication skills with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators; work as a team player; document records accurately; manage confidential information;
listen effectively. - Language

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language including common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability/validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions; define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions; interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, sit, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily inside working conditions; some exposure to environmental conditions during outside duty. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
