Requirements

Must have:
  • Bachelors degree, preferably a B.S.
  • More than 10 years of computer experience, along with underwriting and/or catastrophe analysis experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the management and advanced use of natural hazard simulation models in partnership with the Manager of Aggregation Analysis, Natural Hazards Peril Underwriting managers, and other team members.
  • Oversee data collection, data quality, data integrity, and related coordination, while also operating these applications hands-on and using their more sophisticated functions.
  • Review model outputs at the front line and assess their accuracy and integrity.
  • Work with company management at various levels and engage with external vendors as needed.
  • Provide technical support and training to Methods Analysts who create and update model input files.
  • Partner with I.S. resources to ensure corporate data sources accurately reflect required information and that downloads match data warehouse content.
  • Identify the key variables that influence projected outcomes and collaborate with managers to choose those that best represent our book of business.
  • Demonstrate ongoing proficiency across all aspects of model utilization.
  • Liaise with catastrophe model vendors and reinsurance brokers to ensure smooth software performance and seamless output delivery.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports to support All-Risk Underwriting staff.
  • Detect and troubleshoot inaccurate results.
  • Design and run validation procedures to ensure the most dependable outputs.
  • Deliver exposure analysis to other groups such as the Reinsurance Department and departmental leadership.
  • Perform what-if analyses to evaluate the effect of underwriting changes.
  • Collaborate with Research to understand model updates, their effect on measured results, and recommend procedural adjustments as needed.
  • Spot trends in our evolving exposure, raise them to managers, and implement process changes to adapt.
  • Develop and submit jurisdictional reporting on time, including reporting for California, Canadian, and Australian regulatory exposure requirements.
