Operations Manager
Job Overview
Provides daily leadership and direction to the maintenance staff and overall maintenance operations in the various parks. This person serves as daily operations and maintenance of the facilities, working alone when required and making decisions without supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEquivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others. Requires 7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training, and 7 to 11 months of related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, and to use these skills with money and other forms of measurement.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLSAbility to use common sense and detailed written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few known variables in routine situations.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS- CDL
- CDL (Preferred)
Basic Word Processing/Typing.
SUPERVISION RECEIVEDUnder immediate supervision, performs general assignments of work, with periodic check of performance by supervisor.
PLANNINGConsiderable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
DECISION MAKINGPerforms work operations which allow frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance affecting operating efficiency of the individual and to a slight degree affecting other employees or clientele.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERSCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Includes interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supervises a small group (3–7) of lower classification employees, assigns and checks work, assists and instructs, and performs similar work as those supervised.
SUPERVISIONS OF DEPARTMENTSParks.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY, AND EQUIPMENTRegularly responsible for property where carelessness or error would result in minor damage or monetary loss. Requires continuous care and attention to prevent loss.
ACCURACYProbable errors of internal and external scope would have a moderate effect on operational efficiency. Errors may go undetected for long periods, creating inaccurate pictures and potentially causing further errors, losses, or embarrassment; the possibility for error is always present due to job requirements.
FREEDOM TO ACTDirected. Freedom to complete duties as defined by wide-ranging policies and precedents with mid to upper-level managerial oversight.
ANNUAL MONETARY IMPACTJob creates a monetary impact up to an annual level of $100,000.
IMPACT ON END RESULTSModest impact. Provides assistance and support services that facilitate decision making by others.
PUBLIC CONTACTOccasional contacts with patrons on routine matters.
EMPLOYEE CONTACTContacts within the department or office for coordination, frequent interdepartmental contact, requiring tact in discussing problems and presenting data with recommendations.
USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, AND/OR COMPUTERSRegular use of complex machines and equipment: desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines, driver’s license/CDL, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONSOutside working environment with intermittent disagreeable conditions.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSWork near moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, high precarious places, extreme cold, electrical shock risk, vibration. Noise levels usually loud.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIESModerate diversity: regular standing, walking, hand/finger use, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, occasional sitting, lifting up to 100 lbs, frequently lifting up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
