CNC Machinist

1st Shift CNC Machinist

System One is working with a local client to find a 1st Shift CNC Machinist.

Responsibilities:

• Perform CNC machining and set-up on lathes and/or mills with at least 5 years of experience.
• Utilize thorough understanding of processes to machine complex aircraft parts to tight tolerances (.0003").
• Select proper tools and validate programmed speeds and feeds across different materials.
• Plan and execute daily setups, ensuring operations meet quality and production standards.
• Identify and request necessary tooling and fixtures to prevent delays.
• Perform complex setups independently, including fixture fabrication and process verification.
• Conduct in-process inspections and first-part verifications with attention to detail.
• Monitor machine performance, adjust speeds and feeds, and optimize cycle times and tooling life.
• Maintain accurate setup sheets and tool lists for continuity and success.
• Suggest and implement process improvements to reduce cycle times and waste.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years CNC machining and setup experience on CNC lathes and/or mills.
• Strong blueprint reading skills and thorough understanding of GD&T.
• Experience with CAM or manual G-code programming is a plus.
• Willingness to work weekends and short-notice overtime as needed to meet deadlines.
• Ability to interpret and machine complex aircraft parts to very tight tolerances (.0003").
• Excellent teamwork skills and proactive communication.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications preferred.
