Under immediate or general supervision, performs a variety of routine, semi-skilled maintenance, or janitorial duties. Work is performed cooperatively, in a manner that ensures individual, co-worker and public safety. Assignments are of a temporary and/or seasonal nature.#
** About the Position
** The Park Maintenance Division is seeking individuals to join our team to perform tasks focusing on maintenance of all landscape, building facilities and athletic fields within the City of Olympia. Employment in these positions typically will not exceed six months. Hiring will be done on an on-going basis as needed throughout the season (March – October). Weekly work schedules will vary in the number of hours or days worked and may include evenings and weekends.
Beginning Salary for this position is $22.73/hour.
- * note: these are 2025 wages. 2026 wages will include a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) of 2.7%.
* Note These positions do not offer employee benefits except for what may be required by law, i.e. State retirement plan, sick leave and workers compensation.#

** Essential Functions
**** The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
** 1. Performs routine labor, repair, mechanical repair, construction, grounds care, and other maintenance work based on clear and concise directions and/or close supervision.
2. Uses a wide range of hand and power tools such as mowers, edgers, weed eaters, saws, drills, jack hammers, air compressors, etc. 3. Equipment operation is limited to 1 ton and smaller vehicles, trailers for the purpose of hauling grounds maintenance equipment from site to site, mid-size riding mowers, and other related parks maintenance conveyances. 4. May be assigned to perform general labor individually or as part of a maintenance crew.#

**** Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
** 1. Ability to learn and retain skills, when provided a reasonable level of instruction, for the purpose of successful completion of assigned job duties or tasks.
2. Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
3. Ability to learn and comply with pertinent safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.
4. Ability to adhere to the work policies and procedures established by the City and the Division Supervisor.
** Experience/
Education:
** 1. Must be 18 years old. 2. Experience in area of operation preferred.
** Special Requirement:
** 1. Some positions may require a valid Washington State Driver's license.
