Job Overview

Computer Systems Networking Instructor – Owatonna Campus, Riverland Community College. This instructor role is full‑time, with a 171‑day contract during a nine‑month academic year (mid‑August to mid‑May). The instructor will be eligible for a salary in the range of $44,143.67 to $73,609.32 (up to $73,690). Effective teaching styles include traditional classroom, virtual (online), or multimodal formats.

• Instructional planning and delivery
• Teaching and facilitating student learning
• Curriculum planning and development
• Assessment of student performance
• Classroom management
• Maintenance of professional skills and credentials
• Participation in department meetings, coordination activities, and college‑wide committees

• Associate degree in a computer or information technology field
• Four full‑time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in networking, network administration, cybersecurity, or forensics
• Recency: one year of this work experience within the last five years (waived for two years of successful full‑time teaching experience in the last five years)
• Teaching and learning competency in course construction, teaching/instructional methods, student outcomes assessment/evaluation, and philosophy of community and technical college education (waived for a degree in education or three years of successful full‑time teaching experience)
• Preferred:
  Master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or Information Technology
• Industry credentials:
  CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, CCNA/CCNP
• Experience as a Security Analyst, Network Engineer, or Penetration Tester
• Proficiency with Linux, Windows, and cloud services (AWS/Azure)
• Bilingual or multilingual fluency in Spanish, Karen, Karenni, Somali, Pohnpeian, French, Nuer, Anuak, or other languages reflecting the student body
• Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations
