Senior Supermarket Rack Refrigeration HVAC Technician

The Walmart HVAC team is seeking an experienced Senior Supermarket Rack Refrigeration Technician. This role involves supporting and overseeing repair activities for refrigeration HVAC equipment across Walmart facilities, using commercial HVAC and refrigeration skills along with hand, digital, and power tools.

Provide maintenance and repair of Walmart facility refrigeration HVAC systems, respond to emergency calls, and ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Operate the work order system, document repairs, and maintain safety and training standards.

• Maintain and repair facility refrigeration HVAC equipment using commercial HVAC and refrigeration techniques.
• Utilize the work order management system to receive and support repair work orders.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.
• Inspect, operate, or test equipment to diagnose issues.
• Complete all required safety and training courses for equipment and tools.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations through proper practices and procedures.
• Lift up to 75 pounds and work at heights, including ladder use.

• 10 years of commercial refrigeration HVAC maintenance experience.
• Large‑scale rack refrigeration experience.
• Type I, Type II, or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record (MVR pass required).
• Minimum age 18 with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Option 1: 3 years’ HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration experience.
• Option 2: 6 years’ HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration experience plus an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Where required, HVAC‑R/Mechanical Journeyman certification.
• 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area, or 2 years of Walmart store experience.
• Ability to read and speak English (as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations).

• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, or OUI within the last five years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
• Completion of a 2‑year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2‑year associate’s degree in A/C and refrigeration.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation software.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
• Prior experience reading blueprints, schematics, or wiring diagrams.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Experience with glycol and CO₂ systems.

Hourly rate ranges from $35.00 to $70.00, depending on skill set, experience, and other factors. The role is eligible for bonus incentives, premiums may apply based on schedule, facility, or specific work performed.
