This role is responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance to keep equipment and systems operating smoothly, monitoring and replenishing materials and supplies, and ensuring inventory needs are met. The position also supports general operational tasks and other duties as assigned to maintain efficient, uninterrupted facility operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The second level of the Maintenance Series is responsible for performing routine maintenance and construction activities by operating, and maintaining a variety of equipment, machines, or vehicle. Responsibilities may include: setting up work zones; installing and maintaining signs/posts; patching road; plowing snow; clearing trees and bushes; removing trash; performing visual road checks for hazards, service and repair needs; inspecting and repairing equipment when necessary;

minor motor vehicle repairs; and performing related duties as assigned.

SPECIFICALLY AS A MAINTENANCE WORKER YOU WILL
  • Performs routine maintenance activities for streets, park grounds, facilities, athletics field and wastewater treatment facility. This may include installing, fabricating, painting, and erecting street signs; monitoring irrigation schedules; plowing snow; clearing trees, bushes; performing equipment maintenance; and removing trash.
  • Performs routine construction and maintenance activities which includes operating equipment’s and machines for street repair work involving patching holes, installing culverts and drainage pipes; building concrete curbs and gutter; erection and maintenance of ice rinks; and cleaning and televising sanitary and storm sewers.
  • Inspects and maintains equipment which includes performing minor repairs and routine replacements such as changing oil; replacing filters; inspecting tires; and performing other related activities.
  • Monitors and maintains materials, supplies, equipment, and/or other applicable inventory items in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Assists in maintaining variety of information, records and reports.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
