Job Role s and Responsibilities
Create detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
Generate shop-ready fabrication packages including isometric drawings, part details, and assembly instructions.
Develop bills of materials (BOM) for procurement and material ordering.
Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and design inputs.
Request clarifications from customers to ensure accurate design development.
Produce cut lists and nesting programs for CNC and automated shop equipment.
Support CNC programming and fabrication workflow integration.
Take field measurements to verify and refine design accuracy.
Ensure revision control and communicate design updates to shop and field teams.
Apply applicable building codes and fabrication standards to ensure compliance.
Assist in material ordering and vendor coordination.
Define material requirements and support procurement planning.
Coordinate with shop managers on production scheduling and material delivery timelines.
Participate in shop scheduling and project kickoff meetings.
Provide technical support to shop and field teams during fabrication and installation.
Ensure smooth transition from design to fabrication and field execution.
Qualifications and Certifications
5+ years of experience using Autodesk Inventor for metal fabrication or structural design.
3+ years of experience in drafting/design within metal fabrication, steel construction, or related industries.
Experience generating fabrication drawings, BOMs, and shop packages.
Knowledge of CNC machine programming and fabrication workflows.
Ability to interpret fabrication, structural, mechanical, and construction drawings.
Experience taking field measurements for fabrication validation.
Strong understanding of metal fabrication methods and shop processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Experience working with production or project management systems preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical design work.
Excellent communication and coordination skills across teams.
Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of building codes and fabrication standards preferred.
Associate or bachelor's degree in drafting, engineering, design, or related field preferred.
