Assistant Professor of Poultry/Avian Physiologist
Position Summary:
The Department of Poultry Science at the University of Georgia seeks an Assistant Professor to serve a nine‑month academic‑year tenure‑track appointment with a 70% research, 25% teaching, and 5% service allocation. The successful candidate will establish innovative, nationally recognized research and teaching programs that complement existing disciplines and faculty within the department. Potential foci include reproductive physiology, avian fertility enhancement, stress physiology, neurophysiology, comparative physiology between poultry and other avian species, and/or embryology.
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. with a background in poultry/avian science. Preferred candidates demonstrate a record of collaborative research, extramural grant success, program development that integrates applied science, and student mentorship.
Responsibilities- Establish and maintain innovative research and teaching programs in poultry/avian physiology.
- Obtain extramural funding related to research and teaching interests that advance poultry/avian science research, education, and sector innovation.
- Collaborate and work cooperatively with other scientists and industry clientele, exhibiting strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Guest lecture for established Poultry Science courses and engage in undergraduate and graduate student mentorship and recruitment.
- Ph.D. in poultry, avian science, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in reproductive or comparative physiology, neurophysiology, stress physiology, or embryology.
- Track record of grant writing and securing extramural funding.
- Experience in mentoring students and developing interdisciplinary research projects.
