District Support Specialist – Central Region (260004S2)
Positioned within the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, this role provides educational support and improvement services across the Central Region, covering counties including Delaware, Franklin, Madison, Pickaway, Fairfield, Licking, Knox, Richland, Morrow, Marion, Union, and Logan.
Responsibilities- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned schools and districts, coordinating support teams such as State Support Teams, Educational Service Centers, and Department staff.
- Conduct on‑site and virtual visits to assess implementation, review progress, identify barriers and support continuous improvement.
- Support the 11 District Plan and state‑directed improvement initiatives through coordination of support activities, progress reviews, data analysis, and reporting.
- Provide coaching, consultation, technical assistance, and professional learning related to educational benefits, special education improvement, and evidence‑based practices.
- Assist with Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), and Student Group Accountability activities.
- Facilitate strategic planning, problem‑solving and continuous improvement processes with district leadership teams.
- Review school and district improvement plans including One Plans, One Needs Assessments, Service Delivery Agreements, and progress reports to ensure alignment with state requirements.
- Analyze academic and special‑education data to identify trends and inform decision‑making.
- Prepare reports, presentations and other documentation to communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders.
- When school activities are reduced, shift focus to support departmental priorities, special projects, and professional learning.
- Travel to schools and districts statewide as required, and may be assigned to additional regions.
- Participate in regional implementation teams supporting CSI schools.
- Engage in learning walks, instructional reviews, and follow‑up support focused on High‑Quality Instructional Materials and literacy practices.
- Collaborate with district leaders, administrators, and support staff on instructional implementation and improvement.
- Collect and analyze evidence of implementation, instructional materials, observation data, and student outcomes.
- Contribute to action planning, implementation monitoring, and continuous improvement for curriculum and MTSS.
- Prepare implementation summaries and recommendations.
- Support development and continuous improvement of Ohio’s Integrated MTSS framework.
- Deliver professional learning, resources, and implementation supports aligned with the framework.
- Collaborate with Department offices and partners to align initiatives and resources.
- Assist schools and districts in evaluating MTSS implementation, identifying strengths and next steps.
- Stay current on MTSS research, best practices, and policy developments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requires statewide travel with potential overnight stays and a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.

6 years of experience in any combination of the following areas:
- Education administration
- Special education
- Education experience in an urban setting
