A heavy industrial manufacturing operation is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join its Maintenance & Engineering team. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating asset reliability risks that could negatively impact plant operations, safety, cost, or performance. The Reliability Engineer will play a key role in improving equipment availability, reducing unplanned downtime, and driving long-term reliability improvements across the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the reliability and maintainability of production equipment, utilities, facilities, control systems, and safety/security systems
- Partner with project engineering to support the reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment using lifecycle asset management principles
- Track production losses and high-maintenance-cost assets; lead root cause analysis efforts and implement cost-reduction initiatives
- Support the development of equipment design, installation specifications, and commissioning plans
- Participate in equipment acceptance activities, including factory and site acceptance testing
- Contribute to the evaluation and selection of equipment suppliers, MRO vendors, and technical service providers
- Define, develop, and continuously improve asset maintenance strategies, including preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Support risk management planning related to reliability and operational disruptions
- Develop engineering solutions to recurring failures impacting capacity, cost, quality, or compliance
- Apply data-driven reliability tools and methodologies such as RCA, Six Sigma, Weibull analysis, SPC, and reliability modeling
- Collaborate closely with production teams to analyze asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and equipment condition
- Define and implement lubrication strategies and lubricant selection to support equipment longevity and cost-effective maintenance
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 years of reliability or maintenance engineering experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of maintenance and reliability methodologies including RCM, FMEA, PM, and PdM
- Experience in metals or rolling-process environments is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Familiarity with continuous improvement principles and tools
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
