Overview

As a Turbine Installation Field Engineer, your day is focused on leading the on-site mechanical erection and centerline alignment of new steam turbines that support unit growth across North America. You independently manage complex technical execution, solve challenging issues involving large rotating equipment, and coordinate closely with field crews and contractors. You ensure safety, quality, and engineering standards to deliver efficient, high-quality turbine installations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the complete on-site mechanical erection and centerline alignment of large-scale steam turbines, ensuring precision, performance, and long-term reliability.
  • Serve as the on-site technical authority during installation, commissioning, and start-up, resolving complex mechanical challenges to keep projects on schedule.
  • Install and integrate critical auxiliary systems—including lubrication, hydraulic, and control systems—to ensure seamless turbine operation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, customers, and contractors to drive efficient execution while managing site logistics, resources, and tooling.
  • Uphold high safety and quality standards by enforcing site regulations, conducting inspections, and addressing non-conformances.
  • Document installation progress, quality metrics, and technical issues to support successful project closeout.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, strengthening field capability and reinforcing best practices in turbine erection.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5–8 years of hands-on field service experience installing, erecting, or commissioning large rotating equipment such as steam or gas turbines.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering expertise, including commissioning processes, test equipment, and the engineering design process.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently in demanding field environments.
  • A disciplined approach to quality, with solid experience in quality assurance, quality control, and analytical problem solving.
  • Effective workflow and project execution skills to manage priorities in dynamic on-site conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer-facing, and influencing skills to collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry materials weighing 30–50 pounds.
  • Continuously reach above shoulder level, in front, and to the sides.
  • Frequently hold, grasp, and manipulate objects using hands for extended periods (up to 10–12 hours).
  • Frequently bend, crouch, kneel, climb, and crawl as required by job duties.
  • Tolerate exposure to rigorous environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to hear and effectively communicate in noisy environments while maintaining focus and clarity of thought.
