Shift Manager, Cage-Ex

The Cage Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing cage operations during an assigned shift, ensuring the accurate, efficient, and secure handling of cash and gaming transactions. This role supervises cage staff, monitors cash flow, delivers high-quality guest service, and ensures compliance with all applicable gaming regulations. The Cage Shift Manager works closely with surveillance, security, and other departments to maintain the integrity and security of financial operations throughout the gaming facility.

Essential duties and responsibilities include overseeing and managing cage operations during the assigned shift, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Supervising, directing, and supporting cage staff, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and guidance. Monitoring and managing cash, chips, and currency transactions to ensure accuracy, security, and proper reconciliation. Ensuring correct payouts, cashier exchanges, chip counts, and end-of-shift balancing.

Providing excellent guest service by assisting with financial transactions and resolving guest concerns or issues. Ensuring compliance with internal controls and state gaming regulations related to cash handling, documentation, and security. Working closely with surveillance and security teams to prevent, identify, and resolve discrepancies, theft, or suspicious activity. Maintaining accurate records and completing required reports related to cash movement, inventory, and incidents occurring during the shift.

Monitoring and controlling inventory of chips, cash, and other financial instruments. Addressing operational issues, discrepancies, complaints, and emergencies promptly and professionally. Training new team members and providing ongoing training to ensure consistent performance and regulatory compliance. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial and operational information. Performing other duties as assigned.

Required skills and abilities include strong leadership and supervisory skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills, high attention to detail with strong organizational skills, proficiency in basic math and financial transaction processing, ability to work independently and make sound decisions, demonstrated integrity and accountability in cash-handling environments, and ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.

Education and experience required include a high school diploma or equivalent, prior experience in cage operations, cashiering, or a related role within a gaming facility, supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred, working knowledge of gaming regulations, internal controls, and cash-handling procedures, and ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.

Physical requirements and working conditions include standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and using hands and arms regularly. May occasionally sit. Must have close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds.
