Position Overview
Full-time, Night Shift Assessment Specialist at Highland Springs, part of Lifepoint Health. Your experience matters as you will help make communities healthier.
Responsibilities- Receive inquiry calls and assist callers with scheduling face‑to‑face, phone, or tele‑assessment. Triage individuals based on safety risk.
- Assess or ensure assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment. Screen for medical and behavioral emergency conditions.
- Perform a comprehensive assessment and provide quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinate with the clinical team/on‑call physician to meet needs at the facility or other appropriate community providers.
- Interpret treatment to patients and families to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment.
- Administer nursing care to ill or injured persons by assisting in caring for patients and providing direct care.

- Current state RN license in Ohio.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, preferably with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients.
- Experience in patient assessments, family motivation, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
- Current unencumbered license to practice by the State Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification.
- Must be at least 21 years of age; may be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
- Ability to sit and stand one‑third of the shift and walk two‑thirds of the shift.
