Nurse Practitioner - Hospitalist Owensboro

Job Summary

In collaboration with a physician, diagnoses and treats certain acute or chronic health conditions in specific populations.

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
• Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies.
• Performs preventive health assessments, screenings, immunizations, and care as required.
• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Provides counseling and education of patients and families/caregivers concerning preventive health, treatment options, and community resources.
• Promotes age‑ and culture‑appropriate informed choices, shared decision‑making, and the right to self‑determination.
• Documents assessment and patient care plan accurately and timely.
• Coordinates registration functions including collecting and entering demographic, insurance, employer information, and co‑payments.

• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Works under direct supervision.
• Able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience: No experience required.

Education: Master’s degree or higher in Nursing required upon hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: RN – Licensed as a Registered Nurse, eligible to practice nursing in Kentucky. APRN – Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Kentucky.

Certifications:

One of the following required upon hire: AANP, AACCN, NCCCOGN, PNCB, ANCC, or NCC.

7 12‑hour shifts, 7 on 7 off. Weekends every other week.
