At Owensboro Racing & Gaming, part of the iconic Churchill Downs, Inc. family, the Security Shift Supervisor plays a vital role in keeping the excitement going while ensuring the safety of our guests, team members, and property. In this fast-paced, high-energy environment, you’ll do more than just protect—you’ll lead with confidence. Reporting to the Security Manager, you’ll take charge of daily security operations, guide and support your team, and respond to any situation with professionalism and precision.

From overseeing patrols to handling emergencies, you’ll be on the front lines of creating a safe, welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors. You'll help build a strong team, make critical decisions in the moment, and ensure everything runs smoothly—all while being part of the thrill that only the gaming and racing industry can offer. • Leadership & Oversight
  • Supervise, coach, schedule, and, when necessary, discipline security officers.
  • Assign posts, monitor staffing levels, and maintain accurate shift logs and activity reports.
• Safety & Asset Protection
  • Provide visible patrols of gaming areas, back‑of‑house, and perimeter grounds.
  • Escort cash transfers, verify access to restricted areas, and monitor surveillance, alarm, fire‑safety, and lighting systems.
  • Enforce entry requirements (age, credentials, etc.) and respond to altercations, theft, vandalism, fire, trespass, or other illegal acts.
• Incident Response & Investigation
  • Lead initial investigations, collect statements, preserve evidence, and coordinate with law enforcement or medical responders.
  • Execute traffic control, crowd management, evacuation, and incident‑command procedures during emergencies.
• Communication & Guest Service
  • Relay clear, concise information via radio, phone, and written reports.
  • Build guest rapport by greeting, assisting, and providing directions or event information.
• Regulatory & Policy Compliance
  • Train officers on department SOPs, KHRC standards, first aid/CPR/AED, defensive tactics, and alcohol‑service laws.
  • Ensure officers uphold all security directives, safety regulations, and company values.
