The Surveillance Operator is responsible for monitoring all areas of the property—including the gaming floor, cage, food and beverage outlets, and back-of-house operations—through the use of surveillance equipment and direct observation. This role is essential to ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The Surveillance Operator utilizes advanced video monitoring systems, access control tools, and dispatch protocols to identify, document, and report unusual or illegal activities, helping to protect company assets, ensure the safety of guests and team members, and uphold the integrity of operations at Owensboro Racing and Gaming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMonitor guests and team members in all public and restricted areas using surveillance equipment and direct observation to identify suspicious, illegal, or non-compliant activity.
Operate surveillance tools including video cameras, monitors, digital recorders, access control systems, computer dispatch systems, switches, selectors, and video printers.
Maintain continuous observation of gaming activity, cage operations, food and beverage outlets, and other critical areas to ensure regulatory and internal control compliance.
Record, document, and preserve video evidence and written reports related to unusual, suspicious, or criminal activity.
Prepare timely, accurate logs, incident reports, and documentation for investigations and compliance reviews.
Monitor surveillance systems for blind spots, malfunctions, or tampering and report issues to appropriate technical or security personnel.
Maintain surveillance dispatch logs and manage incoming dispatch calls for emergency and non-emergency responses.
Coordinate and support emergency response efforts by dispatching appropriate personnel, including security, police, fire, or maintenance.
Ensure minors are not participating in restricted activities such as gambling, consuming alcohol, or purchasing tobacco.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all surveillance activities, footage, and reports.
Stay current on departmental procedures, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Participate in required training and maintain all necessary licenses, including the KHRGC license.
Support responsible gaming initiatives and report indicators of problem gambling.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Surveillance Supervisor or department leadership.
REQUIREDSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong observational skills with the ability to identify unusual, suspicious, or non-compliant activity.
Proficiency in the use of surveillance equipment and monitoring systems.
Ability to maintain detailed logs and prepare accurate, well-written reports.
Solid understanding of laws, regulations, internal controls, and procedures related to gaming operations and security.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Basic computer proficiency, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems.
Ability to remain focused for extended periods in a low-light environment.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency or high-pressure situations.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a secure, fast-paced environment.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
