Insect Packing Technician (Micro fauna) (FT)

We are currently seeking a reliable and detail‑oriented individual for the full‑time Insect Packaging Technician position in our Owosso Insect Department. As a member of the Insect Department, you will play a key role in supporting our mission by helping maintain healthy feeder insect colonies, as well as spring tail, isopod, and crab cultures that supply customers across the country.

Your primary responsibilities include daily care and maintenance of feeder insect colonies and microfauna cultures, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring colony health. You will assist with packing live insects and microfauna for shipment according to established SOPs, meeting quality and time expectations to maintain adequate inventory for  and our wholesale partners. In addition, you will support expansion projects for spring tail, isopod, and crab production to ensure scheduled goals are met.

Insect Packaging Technicians also provide routine care and feeding tasks for microfauna insects consistently, on schedule, and according to specifications, while following procedures to uphold quality, consistency, and animal welfare standards.

  • Full‑time 40 hours per week
  • Training

    Schedule:

    Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, ~estimated 1 month
  • $16.00/hour Starting Wages

Day‑to‑day tasks include:
  • Provide labor support to ensure expansion projects for spring tail, isopod, and crab production are completed on schedule.
  • Pack insects according to established SOPs, adhering to both quality and time expectations.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of insects for  and wholesale partners.
  • Perform routine care and feeding tasks for microfauna insects consistently and on schedule.
  • Monitor colony health and ensure basic care tasks are completed to specification.
  • Perform routine cleaning, organization, and stocking of supplies in the work area.
  • Support expansion projects to keep insects and microfauna in stock for  and wholesale partners.
For this position, you MUST possess:
  • Good eye‑hand coordination and ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Basic computer and technical skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions while accepting feedback
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work well independently or as part of a team
  • High sense of self‑accountability and responsibility
  • Special consideration is given to those with:
  • Experience working with invertebrates, aquatic fauna, or microfauna
  • Manufacturing or production experience
