Fork Lift Operator

Corunna and Owosso, Michigan

Hours:

Day shift/6-2:30 and Second Shift 1:30-10:00

Pay: $17 an hour

We are currently seeking dedicated Fork-Lift Operators to load and unload inbound and outbound dry van trailers in a safe and efficient manner, with our client in Corunna and Owosso. This is a fast-paced environment that is NOT climate controlled, occasional weekend or holiday work may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers using fork trucks, or other equipment.
• Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
• Attach identifying tags to freight or mark them with identifying information.
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
• Stack freight in locations, using fork trucks, or other equipment.
• Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets, work tickets, and warehouse management software.
• Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
• Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.
• Wash out cargo containers and storage areas.
• Bundle and band material, using banding machines.
• Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, to unload, transport, or stack material.
• Move controls to drive gasoline-powered trucks or tractors to transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
• Mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, and shipping containers.
• Inspect freight for accuracy, and damage, and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
• Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags, labels, and in the warehouse management software.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of solid experience in a warehouse or shipping and receiving role.
• OSHA
  - Forklift Certified preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in environment that can be dirty and has no temperature control in summer or winter.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
