1st Grade Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Oxford, AL

Step into a part-time opportunity supporting an enthusiastic 1st-grade student as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant elementary school setting. This contract role, located near Oxford, AL, is set to begin in September 2026 and run through the end of the school year. Youll collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and families to ensure access, inclusion, and academic success for a young learner eager to participate fully in classroom activities.

• Hold a current Sign Language Interpreter Certification.
• Demonstrated expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and effective interpretation in educational environments.
• Experience with elementary-aged students preferred.
• Compassionate communicator, able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

• Provide direct interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a 1st-grade student during instructional and non-instructional times.
• Facilitate classroom engagement, supporting both educational and social interactions.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to develop and implement strategies ensuring equitable access to curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication logs as required.
• Adjust interpreting methods to meet the evolving needs of the student and the classroom environment.
