At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our team in Oxford, AL/ Auburn, AL (flexibility).

The working hours/salary for this role are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM with some flexibility.

The Role

The Ceramic Core Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for non-metallic materials and manufacturing processes used to produce precision internal cooling passages and hollow features in aerospace investment castings. Located on-site at our Oxford, Alabama, aerospace casting facility, this wide-reaching role connects advanced material science and high-volume manufacturing. The engineer is responsible for developing a “green field” core manufacturing operation, from core body material development through forming and thermal processing to finishing and strengthening.

During development and production, the engineer manages optimizing ceramic core manufacturing yields, ensuring fixed process adherence & process control, and solving structural or dimensional defects to secure a stable product flow of high-quality components to the downstream wax and casting operations. This position reports to the facility engineering manager / director.

Interested?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in materials (preferably ceramics) processing, injection molding, or an investment casting foundry.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software like Minitab or Excel for Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with laboratory testing methods & protocols.
  • Familiarity with dimensional inspection equipment, tooling design & operation, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
