Staff Accountant

Our client, a growing organization within the distribution industry, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to support multiple business entities, work closely with accounting leadership, and gain exposure to a variety of accounting functions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong accounting fundamentals and advanced Excel skills. This individual will take ownership of key accounting processes, contribute to month-end close activities, and help drive efficiencies across the finance function.

• Perform daily cash and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring and payroll-related entries
• Support intercompany accounting transactions and reconciliations
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules
• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
• Monitor cash activity and support cash management reporting
• Administer Positive Pay processes and banking controls
• Assist with financial reporting and account analysis
• Support fixed asset accounting and related reconciliations
• Prepare and assist with Sales & Use Tax filings
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects
• Collaborate with accounting leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial results

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and accounting principles
• Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close
• Experience working with ERP or accounting software systems
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and XLOOKUPs
• Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends
• Strong aptitude for improving processes and increasing efficiencies

• Experience with multi-entity accounting environments
• Quick Books experience
• Exposure to Sales & Use Tax compliance
• Experience with cash management and financial reporting
