Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Mechanic Position

Full-time or part-time mechanic position for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment. We are looking for an experienced (10-year min) mechanic who takes pride in his abilities to maintain and understand the equipment he is working on. Soil testing Inc. is a geotechnical drilling contractor working throughout southern New England and New York since 1958. This is a 40-hour per week position but may require some overtime.

The more versatile the person's skills, the more opportunity for overtime.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and repair to equipment and trucks is the primary task.
• Assess vehicles and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues.
• Perform and record routine maintenance according to schedule.
• Provide routine inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Repair equipment as needed.
• Welding, welding/build-up auger tools, secondary task; not a prerequisite to mechanic position, but a plus.
• Keep an accurate log of all work performed.
• Keep the work area clean and safe.
• Adhere to company work safety policies.
• Provide your own set of basic hand tools.

Qualifications:

• Experience conducting routine heavy equipment and truck repair/maintenance.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting heavy equipment and trucks.
• Practical mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
• Sound mechanical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• The ability to operate heavy equipment, a CDL, and or welding fabrication ability; is a plus.
