Role Description The Heavy Equipment Operator/Laborer is a full-time, on-site role based in New England area. This position involves operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and skid steers for site preparation, trenching, grading, and general excavation work. The role also includes laborer tasks such as shoveling, pipe laying assistance, site cleanup, material handling, and supporting crew members with day-to-day job site activities.
The individual is expected to follow safety procedures, perform basic equipment inspections, and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to complete projects on schedule. Work is primarily outdoors and may involve varying weather conditions and physical tasks throughout the day.
Qualifications
- Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, skid steers) and performing basic equipment checks and maintenance.
- Ability to perform construction labor tasks, including digging, lifting, material handling, and site cleanup in outdoor environments.
- Knowledge of job site safety practices, including safe equipment operation, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to company safety policies.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, and other crew members.
- Reliable transportation to the Oxford, MA job site and ability to maintain punctual, consistent attendance.
- Prior experience in excavation, site work, or general construction is preferred but not required; willingness to learn on the job is essential.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adapt to changing job site needs.
- Valid driver’s license; a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or hoisting license is a plus.
