Title: Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development
Work Year: Twelve-month position; individual contract; salary range $120K-$135K

Summary: Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development is the PreK-12 instructional leader supporting administrators, classroom educators, and support staff to refine their instructional practices for the purpose of ensuring equity and excellence for all students. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development is responsible for providing leadership in the designing, planning, implementation, and monitoring of the PreK-12 curriculum.

The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development plans and leads teacher training workshops, coaching sessions, and conferences to improve classroom instruction. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development is responsible for leading staff in the review of student test scores and performance matrices to find gaps in the learning program and to recommend adjustments in teaching methods. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development recommends text books, digital books, and instructional resources to aid and improve instruction.

• Functions as the chief academic officer of the district to ensure the district’s curriculum goals and strategies are aligned to the State Frameworks and to instructional practices that yield a high level of student achievement and instructional excellence in all PreK-12 subject areas
• Plans, implements, and coordinates PreK-12 curriculum development, evaluation, and revision
• Coordinates the review, development, and revision of all programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and instructional materials
• Assumes responsibility for the implementation of new instructional resources and programs
• Ensures that staff are using approved district instructional resources appropriately
• Provides district leadership in working with building administrators and teachers to coordinate and articulate curriculum among and between grades
• Formulates, plans, and implements professional development for all staff
• Plans, coordinates, and oversees the district's annual mandatory employee training program; ensures all required training modules are current, accurate, and assigned within the district's learning management software; monitors employee participation and completion; communicates deadlines and follow-up reminders as needed; prepares compliance reports; and works collaboratively with administrators to ensure timely completion of all required training
• Oversees the district’s formal teacher mentoring program; recommends appointments for district’s teacher mentor coordinators; works with the teacher mentor coordinators as to ensure a quality program
• Makes recommendations, coordinates and oversees the selection and implementation of the district’s PreK-12 program of assessments
• Provides district leadership to principals in selection and implementation of appropriate literacy assessments by which to monitor student growth
• Provides leadership to principals on data analysis and results reporting
• Provides leadership to building administrators and staff in analysis of assessment to ensure the district has identified at-risk students
• Develops and recommend any PreK-12 new program models to meet the learning needs of at-risk populations
• Works with the Director of Student Services and Special Education to identify appropriate instructional resources, programs or other materials or technology software to meet the needs of students with disabilities
