Job SummaryReporting to the School Business Administrator and Director of Operations, the Senior Account Analyst maintains the financial ledgers of the District and is responsible for the accounting, bookkeeping, and financial record-keeping of the District's financial business affairs, ensuring accuracy and exercising judgment with minimal guidance.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all work conducted in Accounts Payable and Receivable offices and coordinate financial activities between schools, Town, and other departments.
- Ensure accuracy of accounts payable and maintain accounts for funds and federal/state grants, including balance of petty cash.
- Monitor the District’s annual operational budget, encumbrances, and expenditures.
- Oversee all student accident and property damage insurance claims.
- Assist payment of school-related non-construction Town Meeting warrant articles authorizing funds.
- Reconcile student activity accounts and debit-card purchases monthly.
- Communicate with vendors regarding account status and resolve vendor issues.
- Maintain a complete and systematic set of records for all financial transactions, recording details in appropriate journals or ledgers.
- Monitor all business transactions within the District, including grants, budget, school lunch, and special accounts.
- Oversee staff reimbursements/allowances.
- Oversee copy-machine and postage lease agreements for all school buildings.
- Collect District payments and transport to Town Treasurer for deposit.
- Maintain and ensure currency of all purchasing/procurement files.
- Control use of petty cash, credit, and debit cards.
- Perform administrative and confidential duties requiring judgment and initiative.
- Assist District staff with payables and payroll processes, ensuring compliance with laws and policies.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in financial duties.
- Perform any other related duties as directed.
- Process invoices and payables promptly and accurately.
- Prepare weekly Accounts Payable Warrants for School Committee approval.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to central office areas.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, accounting, or related field, or coursework in accounting and bookkeeping.
- Three to four years of accounting, bookkeeping, or office experience in a municipality or school district; supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, general municipal or school operations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and judgment with minimal guidance.
- Proficient in typing, data entry, Microsoft Office, G-Suite, and accounting software.
- Ability to keep detailed financial records, communicate courteously with staff and vendors, operate office equipment, and meet prescribed deadlines.
May require stationary periods, lifting or transporting up to 30 lbs., operating office equipment, and traveling to other town departments and school buildings. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily a clean, indoor office environment; may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Essential duties are illustrative; additional duties may be assigned.
Position Type and CompensationPosition Type: Full-time
Salary: $59,004 to $62,942 per year

- Successful completion of annual mandatory training requirements.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
