At IPG Photonics, Equipment Maintenance Technicians are essential to the performance of the production equipment and manufacturing systems used to produce high-performance fiber lasers. Your work will have a direct, visible impact on equipment uptime, production continuity, safety, and quality.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain critical equipment through routine maintenance, inspection, cleaning, adjustments, and repairs.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and monitor operating conditions and equipment health indicators.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, control-related, and small electronic assembly issues; perform basic soldering and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with equipment installation, calibrations, qualification, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Partner with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow safety, quality, and technical procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Experience That Can Translate Well
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, production, or automated equipment is helpful.
  • Exposure to robotics, automation, motors, drives, sensors, conveyors, pumps, pneumatic systems, electrical controls, PLCs, small-part electronics, soldering, or preventive maintenance programs is beneficial.
  • Relevant backgrounds may include industrial maintenance, manufacturing, electronics, photonics/optics, medical device production, aerospace, pharmaceutical manufacturing, industrial automation, precision machining, automotive repair, HVAC, electromechanical maintenance, mechatronics, military technical specialties, or vocational training programs.
What You Bring
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a methodical approach to troubleshooting equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures, diagrams, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and tracking systems.
  • Curiosity, accountability, and a desire to continuously learn and improve.
Physical and Safety Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and moving machinery.
  • Comfort working with manufacturing equipment, mechanical systems, electrical components, small electronic assemblies, soldering tools, and compressed air systems while consistently following safety procedures.
