Instrument Fitter - Foreman I - Various Locations
Responsible for monitoring quality and safety and providing planning and direction directly to the assigned crew for construction activities for construction projects. This is normally a first-level supervisory position and requires previous experience as a craft worker. The role of a Foreman is to assist the General Foreman in providing leadership, direction, and supervision of craft workers; and to provide coordination so that crafts work safely and productively.
Overviewof Primary Duties
- Coordinates, oversees, and briefs crew on daily work to be done.
- Plans and prioritizes job tasks, and trains, directs, organizes, and supervises a crew on the job site for quality work and efficient production.
- Is familiar with the job site safety plan.
- Enforces safe practices.
- Conducts training in safety.
- Completes safety reports.
- Ensures that all work meets or exceeds the standards.
- Manages crew timesheets.
- Prepares quality and quantity reports, and other required reports.
- Comprehends blueprints, sketches, and plans.
- Evaluates, monitors, and reports on work progression, while ensuring that all works are conducted in compliance and line with the man-hour budget.
- Has experience in maintaining short-range look-ahead plans.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in the field of work being completed to step in if needed or conduct training.
- Knows what to do if an OSHA inspector comes onsite.
- Recognizes and corrects any unsafe conditions that may exist or occur on the job site.
- Assists with job site inspections.
- Attends any required meetings, including scheduled supervisory meetings.
- Demonstrates Yates Core Values and Principles.

- Safety Responsibilities and Expectations
- Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work by the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices.
- Reports all incidents, near hits, and hazards to management.
- Required to wear and maintain personal PPE.
- Advises fellow employees of hazardous situations.
- Participates in workplace inspections.
- Complies with statutory requirements, including duty of care.
- Participates in required and assigned training.
- Provides suggestions to improve Safety.
- Presents a mature approach to working safely.
- Attends prestart and Safety meetings and contributes.
- Other related duties as needed and assigned by Field Supervision.

Level I:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of construction experience
- Minimum of six (6) years of craft-classified experience
- Required minimum of two (2) years of experience in supervision for any externally recruited candidates that are not currently a Yates employee
- Formal education/degree/certificate in construction, technical, or trade school such as NCCER Certification Plus.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language.
Level II:
- Same as Level I
- Successful completion of Yates Supervisor training.
- Supervise installation per work packs and report quantities
- Complete time sheets for their direct reports to track progress and verify time
- Responsible for the quality of the finished product, completing quality documentation including check sheets and final documentation
- Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights
