Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Construction Materials Technician to perform field and laboratory testing, construction observation, and inspection of materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. The role involves communicating test results clearly with relevant individuals, tabulating and calculating laboratory results, and preparing field reports. Responsibilities also include maintaining and cleaning equipment, vehicles, and work areas. Occasionally, you will work with a drill rig during geotechnical investigations.

Responsibilities

* Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials.

* Perform construction observation and inspection of materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.

* Communicate test results clearly with appropriate individuals.

* Tabulate and calculate laboratory results and prepare comprehensive field reports.

* Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.

* Occasionally assist with drill rig operations during geotechnical investigations.

Essential Skills

* Proficiency in ACI, concrete, materials testing, soil testing, and construction materials testing.

* Minimum ACI Field Grade I certification.

* At least 1 year of experience performing nuclear density testing of soils and concrete testing.

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.

Work Environment

Work hours vary depending on the time of year, typically ranging from 45-55 hours a week. Start times are usually at 7:30 AM with end times around 5 or 6 PM. Rotation of Saturday work is attempted, but availability for Saturday work is required if needed. During the slower months from December to March, work hours are generally Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 or 5 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxford, MS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
