Position Description
The School of Applied Sciences, Department of Nutrition & Hospitality Management at The University of Mississippi, is seeking applications for Chair of Nutrition & Hospitality Management. This is a twelve‑month, tenure‑track position at the rank of associate or full professor as determined by research/scholarly publication records and academic achievements.
Roles and DutiesReporting to the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences, the primary administrative responsibilities of the position will include vision casting, fostering positive/collegial relationships, enhancing scholarly activities and excellence in teaching within the department, personnel administration, budgeting, planning, maintaining accreditation standards, assessment, development/fundraising, sponsored program activities, agency outreach, alumni relations, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsApplicants must hold a Ph.D. in Nutrition/Dietetics, Human Nutrition, Hospitality Management, Hospitality Administration, or a related field. Candidates must demonstrate administrative experience, strong leadership skills, experience with accredited programs, a record of peer‑reviewed publications in high‑impact journals, and a record of excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students.

The Department of NHM is home to 17 faculty, 3 staff members, and approximately 400 students from around the world ().
NHM currently offers six academic programs, including two undergraduate programs (B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition; B.S. in Hospitality Management), two master’s programs (M.S. in Food and Nutrition Services; M.S. in Hospitality Management and Leadership), and two Ph.D. programs (Ph.D. in Nutrition Sciences; Ph.D. in Hospitality Management). The department is home to two programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
Students enrolled in the B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics may choose to apply to the Didactic Program in Dietetics, and students enrolled or planning to enroll in the M.S. in Food and Nutrition Services may choose to apply to the Coordinated Program in Dietetics. Additionally, the Hospitality Management Program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA).
The department is housed within the School of Applied Sciences, an inclusive home to approximately 150 faculty and staff, over 2,900 students, six academic departments, three centers, and an institute. The School currently serves 10 undergraduate, 10 master’s, and four doctoral programs ().
