The Role

CONVERGIX Automation Solutions is a trusted partner in industrial automation, delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges. We’re expanding our team with an Embedded Controls Engineer who will play a critical role in designing and implementing advanced control systems for automotive assembly and battery pack production. This position reports to the Branch Manager
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement embedded control algorithms and software for machine control and data collection systems.
  • Develop and integrate PLC programs, embedded software, and system architectures.
  • Lead controls projects from concept through commissioning, including scope creation, procurement, and progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to introduce new technologies and optimize existing systems.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support model changes and innovation projects within assembly engineering.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience in embedded controls, software engineering, and PLC programming.
  • Knowledge of control system architecture and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Control Net, Device Net).
  • Ability to read/write SQL and PLC code for production control systems.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable regarding automotive industry or manufacturing processes.
  • Motivated & passionate about working with people and overcoming challenges through collaboration and a win‑win paradigm.
  • An ability to travel; currently travel is approximately 25% for controls specialists.
  • Experience with TOYOPUC or Omron is an asset.
  • Familiarity with automotive assembly processes is an asset.
  • The ability to travel to Canada is a plus.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally lifts or moves up to 25 pounds.
