Quality Engineer
This position involves no supervisory responsibilities but requires the ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms with various stakeholders including managers, suppliers, customers, and the public. The role focuses on developing and maintaining a supplier quality system that ensures the supply base is producing, measuring, and maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with procedures outlined in the Quality Manual, such as ISO
9001 and IATF
16949. - Lead supplier development activities and implement necessary changes.
- Participate in supplier reviews and provide input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality.
- Perform supplier quality audits according to ISO
9001, IATF
16949, and VDA6 standards. - Ensure reliability and accuracy of products from the supply base and timely disposition of nonconforming material.
- Coordinate with suppliers on initiatives related to supplier quality performance, track performance trends, and facilitate corrective actions.
- Utilize lean manufacturing, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the supplier base and help develop robust processes aligned with zero defect initiatives.
- Provide support to customers regarding supply-based issues.
- Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art quality tools and APQP methods such as FMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP.
- Ability to read technical specifications and drawings.
- Problem-solving skills and capability to implement continuous improvement techniques.
- Proficiency in standard business applications software and specialized data analysis tools.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification.
- ISO/IATF auditor certification with 2-5 years of related audit experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Spanish language skills.
- Experience in Plastic Molding and Assembly processes.
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Experience in quality engineering, documentation review, blueprint reading, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge in PPAP, root cause analysis, 8D, and 5 Why methodologies.
The work environment involves collaborating with cross-functional teams and requires the ability to manage communication effectively across various departments. The role may involve using various quality and manufacturing software tools and requires a professional dress code.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxford, MS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
