PT Patron Technology Assistant-Thornton Branch

Under supervision of the Head of Patron Technology, performs a variety of duties with focus on customer service by helping patrons with technology services and monitoring the public computer area. The work involves frequent interaction with the public in an indoor setting under regular supervision from the Head of Patron Technology, with performance evaluated based on customer service and accuracy.

• Assists patrons with a variety of services including technology assistance, responding to general inquiries, instructing patrons on the use of library equipment, typingand data input.
• Answers the telephone and provides routine information or refers and transfers calls.
• Utilizes various types of office equipment including computers, point of sale system, copierand fax machine.
  • Working knowledge of library procedures, circulation procedures, methods, materials, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of computers, audio-visual equipment , and other equipment in the library.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, search engines, email, and other common computer software.
  • Some knowledge of the objectives of a public library system.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, and patrons.
  • Ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed.
