Position Overview
The agent will lead educational programs in field crop production for Granville and Person Counties, focusing on profitability and sustainability. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, evaluating and marketing educational programs, adopting proven technology, business, and financial practices, and conducting applied research development in the program area.
Additional duties include serving as county pesticide coordinator, providing licensing training, and collaborating with other agencies, groups, and organizations to effectively reach audiences throughout the counties.
Education & Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in crop science, agronomy, or a related agricultural field is required.
- Education requirements:
- One of the following: a Bachelor’s degree with GPA 2.5 overall or 3.0 in the major field of study (based on a 4.0 scale); a Bachelor’s degree plus completion of at least one‑half of a Master’s degree curriculum with GPA 3.0 or higher; or a completed Master’s degree in the job‑related field.
- Students in an NCCE Program Associate holding a bachelor’s degree may waive the minimum GPA requirement.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree in a related field;
Extension or other professional experience; high level of computer competency.
- Strong communication skills to conduct educational programs and training.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate field crop educational programs.
- Knowledge of pesticide regulations and ability to deliver licensing training.
- Experience collaborating with multiple agencies and organizations.
- Travel within Granville and Person Counties; occasional travel outside the district.
Valid NC Driver's License required. Commercial Driver's License not required.
Work ScheduleMonday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm with nights and weekends as required.
