Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical
Location: Granville Health System, Oxford, NC

Position Overview

A professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients, providing care through the continued utilization of the nursing process in collaboration with other health team members. The RN will be responsible for meeting the standards required by AACN, JCAHO, GHS, and other regulating agencies for managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment in the unit. The RN will process information in the Center’s computer and information system as required in performing job responsibilities.

    : $32.75 + per hour (commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities

Observes the GMC's attendance policy. Complies with departmental policies for reporting to work on time and for complying with designated meal/break period time frames. Attends and participates in department meetings. Identify self in a pleasant and positive manner. Anticipates the needs of patients, visitors and peers and assists them in a helpful, positive manner. Understands the urgency of customer needs and responds quickly.

Demonstrates effective communication recognizing diversity among age groups, cultures, and educational levels. Works consistently in a positive and cooperative manner with other employees in and outside of the departmental unit. Values and incorporates the contributions of people from diverse backgrounds; demonstrates respect for the opinions and ideas of others. Is flexible regarding scheduling, shift and department changes. Implements necessary activities to meet self and department objectives.

- Assessment:
Collects data in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on the biophysical, psychosocial, self-care, educational discharge planning and environmental needs of the patient. Planning:
Formulates a goal‑directed plan of care which is prioritized and based on identified patient care needs. Implementation:
Initiates plan of care based on established priorities, essential needs and available resources. Evaluation:
Assesses on an ongoing basis the effectiveness of intervention and revises the plan of care as needed. Psychomotor Skills
- Demonstrates competence in required technical skills. Documentation
- Accountable for overall medical record completeness and accuracy. Documents in a timely, accurate, and concise manner reflecting proper use of terminology and abbreviations. Patient Safety
- Functions with an awareness and appreciation of safety / infection control policies as identified with the institution by using universal precautions and proper body mechanics. Will ensure equipment for proper function and accuracy. Will review limits and alarms with RN. Emergency Situations:
Identifies an unstable or emergency condition and initiates appropriate action.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina. Current BLS and ACLS training required. Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing appropriate to the practice setting.
