* Directly supervise 2 to 3 professional staff members (RDs and/or CMs), each of whom oversees at least one residence hall in the residential neighborhood.
* Supervise and train a team of 8-20 resident assistants.
* Host weekly staff meetings to coordinate upcoming events, discuss community concerns, and facilitate professional development experiences.
* Conduct weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with staff members.
* Ensure staff members are appropriately confronting and documenting behavioral issues and concerns.
* Provide regular formal and informal feedback regarding job performance.
* Assign and oversee collateral duties as needed.
* Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, development, and evaluation of paraprofessional and professional staff members.
* Serve as a role model for all hall staff and residents in personal and professional behaviors.
* Practice ethical stewardship of university resources .
* Demonstrate a commitment to supporting the diverse viewpoints of the Miami community.
* Exhibit a consistent commitment to having a welcoming community for all.
* Create and maintain positive professional relationships within the department and across the university
* Fulfill other general duties assigned by the Office of Residence Life, Division of Student Life and/or Miami University.
* Master’s degree conferred by the start date AND 10+ months of post master's experience as a Resident Director or related position OR
* Bachelor's degree conferred by start date AND 20+ months post bachelor's experience as a Community Manager or related position
* Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, social work, or other closely related field
* 2 years of post master’s experience in residence life, student life or higher education
* Ability to cultivate a positive and engaging living environment, maintain high visibility, and interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
* Ability to work some evening and weekend hours and respond to crises at any time due to the on-call nature of the position
* Able to respond to crises, safety, security, and facilities issues
* Knowledge of managing, expending, reconciling programming funds, and practicing ethical stewardship of university resources
* Proven ability to supervise, lead, train, mentor, and evaluate professional and paraprofessional staff teams
* Skill in overseeing, coordinating, and implementing residential programs and collaborating with faculty/staff on Living Learning Communities
* Ability to manage a residential neighborhood of students across multiple buildings, manage documentation, and handle room changes and general administration
* Understanding of principles used to develop residents and create a supportive living environment (implicitly required for course instruction, advising, and programming)
* The ability to provide leadership during crises, respond effectively to emergency situations, and assume shared responsibility for year-round on-call duty
* Ability to teach a university course
* Knowledge of appropriate documentation processes for behavioral issues and procedures for serving as a student conduct hearing administrator or board member
