Community Learning Leader

Community Learning Leaders support established hybrid courses offered by Project Dragonfly at Miami University. Includes in-person coordination during ~10 day field experience in summer and web-only coordination from April through December. Opportunity for renewal based on available funding and performance. Community Learning Leaders are required to have access to the web and may reside outside of Ohio. Specific location subject to approval.

This is a part-time staff position, not eligible for health care insurance. Community Learning Leaders work with a creative university team of faculty and staff at Project Dragonfly and its partnership programs (Global Field Program, Advanced Inquiry Program and Earth Expeditions) to support graduate-level hybrid courses offered through Miami University. Community Learning Leaders help facilitate and coordinate field-based activities, serve as a point of contact for student questions, support community engagement, and interact in discussions throughout the course.

Community Learning Leaders are paired with Course Instructors who carry responsibility for academic oversight and grading of formal course assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

Demonstrated significant educational, community leadership, or research proficiency in the fields of education, community leadership, wildlife conservation, biology, zoological/ecological management and research, non-profit organization, or related activities. Consistent access to the web is required.

Considerations will be given to applicants with a master's degree, international travel or fieldwork experience, and specialized knowledge in content areas offered by Project Dragonfly (e.g., conservation, ecology, evolution, participatory and inquiry-driven education, and community engagement). Applicants should have the relevant background and proven skills necessary to perform the required duties, including excellent oral and written communication skills; organizational skills with attention to detail and a commitment to working in a team environment;

ability and willingness to take initiative and work collaboratively; and strong facilitation skills for working with a diverse instructional team and student body.
