Job Description SummaryThe Assistant Director serves as a central staff member for the Office of Residence Life and provides guidance, direction, and support for the overall mission, vision, and goals of the residential program s person is responsible for the supervision of 6 – 12 live-in staff members.
Essential Duties- Supervise, train, and evaluate full-time masters' level and part-time graduate level professional staff members (40%).
- Assume leadership of one of the departmental initiatives:
Resident Assistant Recruitment & Selection, Student Leadership Development, Resident Assistant Training and Development, Second Year Programs, Student Academic Support, or Professional Staff Training and Development or other departmental initiatives (25%). - Manage crises and serious incidents in collaboration with supervises, Resident Assistants, other central staff members, and university resources (15%).
- Teach departmental or divisional related courses (10%).
- Assist with University, divisional, and departmental student retention initiatives (10%).
- Master's degree in Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Human Development or related field.
- 3 years of experience in a related field.
- 1 year of post Master's Residence Life experience.
- Able to work independently.
- Demonstrated initiative.
- Display strong commitment to student learning.
- Communicate effectively.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders inside and outside of Miami.
