* * Job Description Summary
** CCES seeks an enthusiastic graduate student who will support the Assistant Director and Liaison to Exploratory Studies. In this role, the graduate student will help conduct small group sessions and career advising appointments for students exploring their major options. This internship will follow the shadow, co-lead, lead model. The graduate student in this position will also help with both qualitative and quantitative research on these student populations and relate student development theory to different career theories and the practice of career advising.
** Job Description
**** Essential Duties
*** Co-lead/lead weekly small group sessions for students exploring their major options.
* Email students reminders about Exploratory career advising opportunities
* Send congratulatory emails to students who have declared their major
* Analyze qualitative and quantitative data on exploratory studies students’ experience in small group sessions and in 1:1 career advising
* Shadow then co-lead exploratory career advising appointments
* Prepare for both information sessions and career advising appointments
* Take student notes both from the small group sessions and 1:1 career advising appointments
* Meet with campus partners
* Support the planning and implementation of large workshops/events
** Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
*** Must be currently enrolled in a Graduate/Masters Program.  Desired skills and abilities include
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skill
* Attention to detail
* Comfortability with Google Workspace:  Gmail, Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Forms
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

****** Learning Opportunities
***** Time will be allocated to reading about career and advising theory during the 10 hours of the internship and discussions will happen during 1:1 time with supervisor.
** Learn and read about various career theories (e.g. Holland's Theory of Career Choice, Happenstance, Cognitive Information Processing, Chaos Theory of Careers, etc.)
* Learn and read about advising theory (Appreciative Advising, Developmental Advising, advising as coaching, etc)
* Discuss with supervisor how career development theory relates to the student development theory learned in class and application of theory.
* Learn resources and assessments to support students in their major and career experience
**** Hours
* *** The graduate internship is approved for up to 10 hours of work per week and must be able to be on campus for 10 hours total on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (for fall 2026). Office hours are between 8am-4:30pm. Work hours will be arranged around the student’s class schedule. This internship will occur in fall 2026 with the potential to extend into spring 2027.  

Please note that the days of the week will likely change for spring 2027.

**** A graduate student can be paid at the Student Master Grad 2 level, provided that the skill and complexity of the job are equivalent to a Graduate Assistant/Teaching Associate (e.g., researcher).  Graduate students with an assistantship and Teaching Associates need to obtain permission from the Graduate School to work in addition to their teaching/assistantship
