Job Overview:
As an Administrative Supervisor RN in the Bethesda Butler Emergency Department, you will serve as the on-site nursing administrator, providing clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts to ensure safe, high-quality patient care and an exceptional patient and employee experience. You will oversee patient flow, bed placement, staffing, and resource utilization; supervise nursing and support staff; address patient care, operational, and staffing issues;
coordinate staffing for current and oncoming shifts; and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. In collaboration with nursing leadership, physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams, you will facilitate communication across departments, support operational and human resources initiatives, contribute to performance evaluations, and respond effectively to emergent situations. This role is responsible for managing shift occurrences, ensuring timely documentation and communication, supporting patient transfer operations by coordinating transfer requests and transportation, and maintaining efficient transfer center functions.
During disasters or Red Alert situations, you will assume the role of Incident Commander until relieved by senior leadership. Success in this position requires strong leadership, critical thinking, prioritization, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and ensure seamless hospital operations.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- 4 - 5 years experience Clinical Nursing Acute Care Hospital, Clinical Nursing (Required)
- 2 - 3 years experience Progressive Leadership Nursing (Required)
- Excellent Communication, negotiation, relationship-building skills, Computer Usage, Data Gathering, Analysis, Statistical Application, Organization, Implementation, Problem-solving, Critical thinker, Self-assessment skills, Outgoing and Creative
- Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- ACLS
- Membership in applicable professional organization Preferred
- Current Clinton Regional Hospital team members employed as of January 1, 2026, are required to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within five (5) years, no later than 1/1/2031 (Required)
Job Responsibilities:
- Utilizes critical thinking, knowledge and skills to make appropriate patient placement decisions, Pt. Diagnosis, Physician service, infectious disease considerations, staffing, acuity, and other appropriate policies. Collaborates to assure quality care and costs containment by utilizing established staffing patterns, patient acuity, census and knowledge of staff capability. Routinely rounds on all units, and proactively informs units of projected volume increases. Provides comprehensive information and participates in hospital decision making that limits patient intake.
- Assumes responsibility for daily operational activities to ensure maximum efficiency, staffs according to budget and facilitates throughout. Utilizes appropriate chain of command. Assumes responsibility, which includes, but is not limited to, participation in committees, taskforces and teams. Creates a supportive environment for teamwork. Manages the utilization of resources included but not limited to, staff supplies and equipment. Delegates as necessary. During assigned shift, may participate in decision making that has an organization wide impact.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written skills facilitating communication to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.
