Job Description SummaryPerforms a variety of mechanical tasks related to performing general maintenance on university buildings during the first shift (Wednesday–Saturday, 5:00 am–3:30 pm).
Responsibilities- Reviews work orders and investigates site; determines proper repair procedures; estimates time and materials needed.
- Performs repair work including tile replacement, door and window repairs, plumbing fixture repairs, steam valve repairs, and repairs on heating/air conditioning equipment such as motors and pumps.
- Repairs electrical switches and receptacles.
- Serves as an informational resource to staff.
- Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
- Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
- May assist in setting up stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting systems for special events.
- Six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Driver’s license.
- Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, plumbing repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of mechanical repair.
- Ability to read schematics.
