Job Description Summary

Performs a variety of mechanical tasks related to performing general maintenance on university buildings during the first shift (Wednesday–Saturday, 5:00 am–3:30 pm).

Responsibilities
  • Reviews work orders and investigates site; determines proper repair procedures; estimates time and materials needed.
  • Performs repair work including tile replacement, door and window repairs, plumbing fixture repairs, steam valve repairs, and repairs on heating/air conditioning equipment such as motors and pumps.
  • Repairs electrical switches and receptacles.
  • Serves as an informational resource to staff.
  • Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
  • Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
  • May assist in setting up stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting systems for special events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, plumbing repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical repair.
  • Ability to read schematics.
