Job SummaryPerforms complex repair or construction of university facilities or property requiring specialized training in a skilled trade. Serves as a 1st shift technician (Mon‑Fri, 7:00a.m.–3:30p.m.) responsible for reviewing job orders and blueprints, inspecting site, consulting with client, determining best method to complete project, estimating materials and equipment, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring materials are at job site.
Essential Duties- Reviews job orders and blueprints or drawings; inspects site and consults with client; determines best method to complete project.
- Estimates amount of materials and equipment needed to complete project and prepares cost estimates.
- Arranges for materials to be at job site.
- Performs complex repair or installation on university facilities and property using specialized trade expertise.
- Serves as informational resource to other staff.
- Maintains and cleans tools and equipment; keeps work area clean and orderly.
- Might serve as liaison to outside contractors and other departments; may prepare some paperwork; may maintain some files.
- Requires nine months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and three years of experience in that trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Driver's license required.
- For AQT positions EPA Universal Certification required.
- Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of a particular skilled trade.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or mechanical diagrams.
- Criminal background check required.
- All campuses are smoke‑ and tobacco‑free.
