Job Description Summary
Supervisor of the HVAC Shop, oversees preventive maintenance, repairs of university facilities or equipment requiring specialized HVAC trade training. Directly supervises at least five (5) classified staff. Works Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.
Essential Duties- Supervise at least five (5) or more skilled trades personnel in the HVAC shop; assist in enforcing policies and procedures; prioritize schedules and assign tasks.
- Train, monitor and evaluate performance; make recommendations regarding discipline.
- Manage preventive maintenance program of HVAC systems.
- Assist with overseeing shop operations; set priorities; prepare cost estimates.
- Impact staff retention; participate in selection and onboarding of new team members.
- Review completed work of employees and contractors; ensure needed changes or corrections are made.
- Research and evaluate new materials and equipment; make recommendations regarding purchase.
- Maintain inventory of parts and supplies; reorder as necessary; maintain department records and work orders.
- May assist in maintenance and repair work, as needed.
- 18 months training beyond high school in a skilled trade and four years of experience in that trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license and ability to be a qualified driver under the University’s MVR policy.
- Knowledge of the procedures and equipment of a particular trade.
- Supervisory skills.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and/or mechanical diagrams.
- Universal Refrigeration License.
- State HVAC License.
- CMMS experience.
- Commercial HVAC system knowledge.
- Experience with refrigeration systems.
- Building Automation System experience.
