About the Role

Team Leader Residential (Deputy Manager)

Location

Headington, Oxon

Contract & Hours

Permanent – 37 hours a week. Full time.

Salary and Allowances

£31,100 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience) + £700 on‑call allowance.

The Service

Viking House is an overnight 6‑bedded short‑break residential service suitable for children and young people up to the age of 18 with physical and/or learning disabilities, including complex health and behavioural care needs.

Our focus is to reduce the impact of disability on the child’s day‑to‑day life by providing support that enables participation, choice, new experiences, friendships and community integration. Parents and carers can rely on a safe, fun and enriching environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of support workers who assist children with day‑to‑day personal needs.
  • Assess individual needs, develop tailored care plans and maintain a safe, engaging environment for staff and children.
  • Manage and lead a team of residential professionals and other staff, overseeing a 24‑hour rota and shift management.
  • Deputise for the manager in their absence.
  • Build positive relationships by providing emotional support to young people with challenging emotional and social difficulties.
  • Take the lead on case and care planning management.
  • Carry out regular reviews of young people’s care notes.
  • Supervise, support and train the staff team and volunteers.
  • Administer medication, personal care and clinical procedures.
  • Attend EHC meetings, safeguarding conferences and court work.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce Social Care Pathway/Residential Care or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience managing and prioritising work.
  • Commitment to going the extra mile.
  • Experience working with children with challenging behavioural, emotional and complex needs.
  • Excellent understanding of safeguarding.
