A Bit AboutThe Role .
This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse learning disabilities or Children's Nurse, who is passionate about providing the health and social care needs of children and young people with a diagnosis of learning disabilities. Viking House is our Children's Short Break centre in Headington for children with disabilities who have a diagnosis of autism, complex health needs and/or complex behaviour, up to the ages 4 to 18.
The centre provides a structured environment and nursing care as a nurse within the service you will give parents and carers the opportunity to recharge their batteries in the knowledge that their child is in a safe and stimulating environment.
- You will be responsible for shift leading a team of residential care workers
- Being responsible for direct care for young people with significant and complex health needs.
- Conducting individual risk assessments and person-centred planning providing a positive proactive outlook to support the young people in our care.
- Being resilient in supporting the young person through challenging situations.
- Being responsible for the safeguarding of the young person.
- Maintaining accurate healthcare records up to date.
- Complete weekly medication reports.
- Support continued competency development.
- A positive and confident approach to engaging with children and young people.
- To hold an appropriate NMC Nurse registration with continuous professional development and revalidation which we will fully support.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience of working as a Nurse with children and young people with complex needs.
- Experience of multiagency working and attending meetings when required.
