We are seeking a caring enthusiastic and dedicated Nursery Learning Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive early years setting within a primary school in Oxford. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and supporting young children at the very start of their educational journey.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Nursery class teacher and Early Years team to provide high-quality support to children aged 3-4. You will play a vital role in creating a nurturing, safe and stimulating learning environment where children feel confident, valued and encouraged to explore, learn and develop independence.
Your role will involve supporting children through a balance of play-based learning and structured activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. You will work with children both individually and in small groups, supporting early communication, language development, physical skills and personal, social and emotional development.
Daily responsibilities will include assisting with learning activities, preparing and organising resources, supporting outdoor learning and helping with routines such as snack time, transitions and personal care where required. You will help model positive behaviour, encourage social interaction and support children in developing key early learning skills.
Observation and assessment will form an important part of your role. You will support the class teacher in monitoring children’s progress, contributing to observations and identifying next steps to ensure each child receives appropriate support tailored to their individual needs.
Strong teamwork is essential. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Early Years setting and communicate effectively to ensure consistency and high standards of care and learning. Building positive relationships with children and contributing to a calm, welcoming atmosphere will be central to your success in this role.
