Salary: £13.65 per hour Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 30 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7

Balliol College

Housekeeping
Our team of Housekeeping Scouts are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the College, providing cleaning and associated tasks as directed. They are observant, thorough, have good time management, and are able to multitask.

Responsible to the Head Housekeeper.

Job description

  • Daily cleaning of offices, teaching rooms and communal areas and facilities as directed
  • Daily disposal of waste and recycling
  • Cleaning each student study bedrooms once per week
  • Reporting damage, breakages or any other related problems to the Head Housekeeper or Team Leaders
  • Deep-cleaning of all areas at the end of term in preparation for conference guests
  • Ensuring that equipment and materials are used responsibly and in compliance with College risk assessments and COSHH regulations
  • Daily servicing of rooms during conference periods, including bedroom set up
  • Any other duties as directed by the Head Housekeeper or Team Leader

The Housekeepers are expected to let the Head Housekeeper know if they have any concerns about the welfare of any students resident in their area of responsibility.

Housekeepers are required to report any breaches of College rules to the Head Housekeeper or Team Leaders.

Housekeepers are to report any damage to College property and report any Maintenance issues to the Maintenance Manager.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the College's organisation and the overall objectives of Balliol College.

Skills and Experience

  • Physically fit
  • Experience in a scouting role or similar
  • Ability to multitask and work well as part of a large team
  • Good spoken English
