The Senior Ecologist role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Oxford Area. The Senior Ecologist will lead and conduct ecological field surveys, including habitat and species assessments, and oversee data collection and analysis. Daily tasks include preparing and reviewing technical reports, contributing to environmental impact assessments, and advising clients on mitigation and enhancement measures. The role involves project management, mentoring junior team members, liaising with clients and regulatory bodies, and ensuring that work meets professional standards and legislative requirements.
The Senior Ecologist will also support proposal writing and contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
- Strong ecological field work skills, including wildlife surveys and botany identification.
- Proficiency in report writing, with experience in producing clear, accurate, and evidence-based documents.
- Practical experience in environmental impact assessment and related regulatory processes.
- Relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, or a closely related discipline.
- Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and ecological best practice guidance.
- Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and coordinate field teams safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel for field work across the Greater Oxford Area and beyond.
