Base
Location:
Slough, Swindon, Oxford, Melksham, Andover, Yeovil, Poole New Forest, Portsmouth, Petersfield, Aldershot, West London or Reading. Applicants must be within commuting distance of the depot.
Salary: £34,749 - £40,939. Overtime & travel time available. 37 hour working week. Company vehicle provided.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time
Responsibilities- Deliver high‑voltage construction projects in a live electricity substation environment in line with operational safety rules and safety legislation.
- Be involved in installing and commissioning new CT Metering apparatus.
- Operate telehandlers, MEWPs and construct mobile scaffolds (full training provided).
- Follow a personal development plan created with guidance from line manager; reviewed regularly to shape career path at SSE.
- Knowledge and experience of installing electrical systems, containment, cabling, plant and small wiring.
- High regard for safety, understanding of CDM regulations and good communication skills.
- Previous experience: working on DC battery systems, internal panel wiring modification, multicore cable terminating, glanding, wiring circuit breakers, CTs/VTs to marshalling kiosks and control panels, AC/DC wiring, replacing 33kV outdoor circuit breakers and isolators.
- Knowledge of electricity distribution network and experience working in live electricity substation environments from 11kV-132kV.
- Previous electricity network operational authorisations beneficial; training and qualifications in scaffold, telehandler, furzeweld, working at heights, confined space, asbestos, COSHH, Loler and SMSTS.
Requirements: A full, clean UK driving licence, flexible approach to working hours and location due to extensive travel across network area.
